COVID, week 49 + a respite

COVID, week 49 + a respite

Not a respite from COVID, of course — that’s still going strong, unfortunately (over 1,600 deaths in SCC; over 47k deaths in CA; and over 490k deaths in the USA) — but a respite from distance learning this week. It’s this weird President’s Week break, what some call “ski week,” but I’ll gladly take a week off (most) Zoom meetings.

It’s bizarre to consider that in just a few weeks’ time, we’ll have officially been dealing with all this (waves arms around frantically) for an entire year. I’m trying not to think that far ahead right now and just stay in the right here, right now present.

Conveniently, that has also kinda been my MO for the past year as well.

COVID, week 48 + ready for break

COVID, week 48 + ready for break

The idea of having a week off from school in February — after two weeks off in December and a week off in November, but before spring break in a few months’ time — was a completely foreign concept to us when we moved here from the midwest.

Most years, I’m fairly indifferent to having the week off, but this time around — no doubt fueled by the ongoing distance learning setup and the raging COVID pandemic we’re living in — I feel like I’m running toward next week with arms wide open.

Short on time and not much else to say tonight.

Hope you are healthy and well and safe.
